Swiss flowers have long been a hit at Toujours Plüss
Store owner Jeannette Plüss of the Fleurop partner store «Toujours Plüss» has been selling Swiss flowers for decades. She is convinced of their qualitative superiority.
Ms. Plüss, you have been running your business for 25 years now. Do you also offer Swiss flowers?
Of course. As soon as the first Swiss flowers are available at the flower exchange, I also sell them in my store.
Why is that important to you?
My experience is that Swiss flowers have less stress because of the short transport routes and therefore have a longer vase life. They are usually cut in the evening, and the following morning I buy them already. Another important advantage is that their flowers open beautifully, which is
not always the case with imported goods. Finally, it is important for me to support domestic production.
How are Swiss flowers received by your customers?
As recently as 2020, many of my customers didn't realize that they were buying Swiss flowers and at most noticed that they kept well and always opened. But since regionality and environmental awareness are playing
an increasingly important role, people are asking more and more specifically for Swiss flowers.
What do you think of Fleurop's idea of offering bouquets and arrangements of only Swiss flowers?
I think it's great! It's also good that the offer has been extended to the entire warm season. For most stores, it's easy to stock up on Swiss flowers. And for the rest of us, Fleurop has made shopping easy. Just great! Of course, it's exciting that the florists are not given any guidelines in terms of color or design for the bouquet and arrangement, which are only shown with a sketch. So, you can use what's on the market and show the customers your own creativity, the style of the store. In general, however,
I think it's great that the expanded range is making customers more aware of the topic of Swiss flowers.
