Fleurop's National Units abroad - focus on sustainability
Sustainability is not only an issue for Fleurop Switzerland, but also for other National Units. They are in active contact with each other and are trying to achieve common goals.
Sustainability Ambassadors are in close contact
Sustainability is a topic that requires serious study and consideration. This is why Fleurop-Interflora has appointed a Sustainability Ambassador for each National Unit.
The ambassadors are in regular contact with each other, exchange ideas, take up suggestions and develop them.
Will there be low-CO2 bouquets?
Where many committed professionals are involved in a lively exchange and contribute, many ideas emerge.
Some of them are very time-consuming to implement and therefore cannot be realized immediately. For example, the creation of bouquets with an ecological footprint.
The CO2 values of individual flowers are collected by an external specialist company.
This is complex in that the values can vary greatly depending not only on the origin of the flower, but also on the season and weather conditions.
Pressure on flower producers via a pesticide database?
The aim of the European National Units is also to work with scientists at the University of Columbia to create a database showing which flowers contain how much pesticide in which country.
This is complex work. If it were successful, Fleurop-Interflora, which operates worldwide, could exert pressure on flower producers to use fewer harmful substances in the future.
After all, there are now good alternatives.
Ideas for minimizing packaging and waste outside Switzerland too
What florist.ch intends to do in workshops in Switzerland should also be done internationally: developing ideas on how to minimize packaging and waste in the green sector.
Starting with the producer, via the intermediate trade and florists, right through to the customer.
The aim here is to go through the entire cycle of a flower or plant step by step and think about alternative options.
Flowers all over the world.
