Fleurop-Interflora (Schweiz) AG - sustainability as the top priority
Sustainability is an important issue for Fleurop Switzerland. The review of all departments has already led to many changes, but there is still a lot to be done.
Fleurop Switzerland has already achieved part of its objectives
Fleurop Switzerland already prefers suppliers that produce regionally - or at least in Switzerland - when procuring office and other materials and additional products.
The company uses FSC paper and chooses recycled paper wherever possible.
Before every new procurement or new production, it is checked whether it is sustainable or what can be changed or improved.
Gift cards are now made of cardboard or wood, Fleurop ribbons are made of recycled PET, flower bags are made of recycled paper, flowerpots are made of recyclable materials from Capi,
the former cellophane envelopes are made of recycled and recyclable material and the greeting cards are made of the most environmentally friendly paper currently available on the market.
Fleurop also prints almost everything in a local print shop that is CO2-neutral.
Fleurop also infects partner shops with the «sustainability virus»
Fleurop Switzerland always presents numerous new products at its annual general meeting and organizes a small trade fair with various stands.
In 2024, there was a stand dedicated to sustainability for the first time.
Not only Swiss flowers, sustainable Fleurop packaging materials, etc. were presented, but also the grass paper used by the flagship store The BLOOMERY to wrap the flowers and the «Too good to go» app.
Consumers can use this to buy unsold floral products at a very reasonable price and collect them in the evening.
Education and workshops for employees and partner shops
Employees are encouraged to use public transport more often or to cycle or walk to work, to exercise, not to waste water and generally to treat nature with care.
Workshops are planned for employees and partner shops to promote an understanding of seasonal and sustainable products and their added value for the environment and the local economy.

Platform for sustainable florists planned
The aim of the Swiss Florists' Association «florist.ch» is to encourage as many Swiss florists and flower producers as possible to become more sustainable.
In the future, they should offer as many sustainably produced flowers and plants as possible, use green electricity, transport them sustainably and offer their employees good working conditions. Appropriate workshops have already been held.
The next step is to build a community via a platform where florists can discuss sustainability.
Further training courses are also planned, for example on how to minimize packaging and waste.
This is what Fleurop Switzerland is aiming for in the medium term
Fleurop's range should be as seasonal and regional as possible, and the additional products, packaging and transportation options should be sustainable.
Optimization and reusability are the goal. Sustainable delivery logistics are being examined.
The aim is to enable partner shops to purchase sustainable products at favorable conditions.
Care is taken to ensure that regional suppliers are considered in the procurement of office and packaging materials etc. and that as much as possible is produced in Switzerland.
The motto is: away from plastic.
